Q: When is the takeover?
A: The takeover is Friday July 16, Saturday July 17, and Sunday July 18.
A group will be running the Rubicon Trail Monday July 12 - Wednesday
July 14.
Q: Why did you guys pick the west coast? That is too far for everyone!
A: Tahoe is not on the west coast, it is actually on the far eastern side
of California on the Nevada border.
Q: Okay, so what's so good about Tahoe?
A: Tahoe is located in the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
The scenery and four-wheeling are second to none.
Q: I want to make this a family vacation, what else is there to do in
Tahoe?
A: Four-wheeling, camping, swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, biking,
gambling, white water rafting and much much more. Bring your family and spend a few days!
Q: Do I need to get any permits or pay any land use fees?
A: No. We are going to be four wheeling in small groups of 10-12 trucks
on public lands in national forests. These 'fun runs' do not require
permits or fees.
Q: Is alcohol consumption allowed on the trails?
A: ABSOLUTELY NOT! There is zero tolerance for this. There is plenty of
time to party back at the campsite or hotel. Be aware that penalties
for drinking and driving in national forests are the same as drinking
and driving on public roads
Q: Does my vehicle need to be registered and insured to run the trails?
A: Yes. The same motor vehicle laws apply when driving in the national
forest.
Q: Is there an age requirement to attend the event?
A: To be able to participate in any of the scheduled trail runs you must be
at least 18 years of age. If you are under the age of 18 your parent or
legal guardian must attend the event with you and sign a legal consent form
for you to participate.
Q: Who is allowed to participate in the event?
A: The 2004 takeover will be limited to TTORA members. Honorary members with
other makes and models of vehicles will be welcome. A very small number of
non-members may be invited by the staff and organizers to help with the event.
Q: Is there a list of required equipment I have to have to participate?
A: Yes. Everyone has to have a full sized spare tire, fire extinguisher,
and basic first aid kit. A CB is not required, but highly recommended!

Q: I looked on a map and the trails are all spread out. Why were these
trails picked?
A: We anticipate a very large turnout for this event. The trails were
selected to provide the best wheeling experience for people of all skill
levels. The trails we are running are the best in the area. We don't
think people will mind driving 30-60 minutes to get to a trail.
Q: I heard you guys in Cali are a bunch of tree huggers. Am I going to get
in trouble for mud bogging in a meadow?
A: We don't consider ourselves tree huggers, but we respect the environment
and many of our trails are in danger of being closed. Any behavior that
gives ammo to the environmentalists will not be tolerated. All participants
must obey the following:
- Stay on the trail. Making new trails or bypasses is not allowed. It is
not okay to drive over bushes or trees.
- Do not litter. Pick up trash when you see it. Even if it isn't yours.
Leave the trail better than you found it.
- Our trails are shared. Be courteous to other users including bikers,
hikers, motorcycles, horses, other vehicles etc.
Anyone violating these rules or intentionally destroying the environment
will be ejected from the event and reported to law enforcement.
Q: Is there an official hotel or campground?
A: The staff is still looking into the lodging situation. If you have
any connections please let us know.
Q: How do I know which trails to pick?
A: Check the trail info page at:
http://www.norcalttora.com/trails
If you need help picking a trail, email mike@toy4x4.net. Include your
vehicle description and your experience level. We will do the best
to match you with the trails that will give you the best wheeling
experience.
Q: Will I scratch my truck or get dents? I don't want to scratch my truck
A: As with any four-wheeling, there is always a possibility of damage.
If you don't want to risk scratches and dents, stick with the easy
trails and bring a spotter.
Q: What about a raffle?
A: There will be a raffle, and it will be good! Check the sponsors page
to see what has been donated so far.
Q: Will there be a takeover CD for wheeling pictures?
A: Yes. Everyone is welcome to submit their pictures to be included
on the CD. CD's will be sold for a small fee to cover duplication costs
and postage.
Q: Will we get T-shirts? What does the logo look like?
A: Yes, everyone will get a T-shirt. The logo has not been picked yet.
If you have a suggestion email it to mike@toy4x4.net.
